International arrivals are all via Tribhuban Airport in Kathmandu(1300mtrs.) the capital city and heart of the culture of Nepal. Two hundred kilometres west lies Pokhara (1000mtrs.) at the foot of the great Annapurna mountain range. Between these two and in the lowlands to the south, is Chitwan National Park(200mtrs.)home to Temple Tiger Jungle Lodge. By Air : The Temple Tiger Jungle Lodge in the Royal Chitwan National Park can be reached either by domestic airlines or the land route. 3-4 domestic airlines fly to Bharatpur which is a 25 minute flight. You will be met at the airport and driven to the Amaltari Ghat by a TTJL representative which will take 1hour 20minutes. On reaching the Ghat on the banks of the Narayani River, your jungle oddessy begins. Upon arrival, the guests will be transferred by riverboats and elephants/landrovers to the Temple Tiger Jungle Lodge.By Land Route : Roads leading west from Kathmandu, or east from Pokhara meet midway between the two at Mugling. The main road turns south from here following the course of the Narayani through the middle hills to the Terai (lowlands) belt 35 kms south. At Narayanghat, we meet the Mahendra Highway and turn east through Chitwan. After about 50 kms, we drive south on a dirt road for the 15 kms drive to Amaltarighat. The 190 kms. drive gives a fascinating view of life in rural Nepal, rivers, and villages, rice terraces and forested hillsides. A good option is to drive one way, fly the other. By Raft : A thrilling activity can be incorporated into the drive About 2 ½ hrs. after leaving Kathmandu Charaundi is reached, from where the rafting begins. After 3 hours white water rafting on the Trishuli river, we arrive at Kurintar. There a packed lunch will be provided. Another 3hr. drive will take you to AmaltariGhat, on the banks of River Narayani. Variation in the rafting itineary can be arranged with trips lasting upto three days, camping enroute. For visitors from Pokhara it would be an overnight stay at a lodge and rafting on the Seti River. River trips vary from one to ten days and from scenic floating to some of the most challenging white water rafting available in the world. GETTING THERE
By air : Just a thirty minute flight will bring you from Kathmandu to Bharatpur (outside Chitwan National Park.) Daily morning flights are available from Royal Nepal (RNAC.) At Bharatpur airport you will be met by our staff and be driven to our Island Jungle Resort.
By Raft : One of the most exciting ways to travel to the park is by raft down the Trishuli river – a day float – which brings you to Narayanghat where you may be driven to our Island Jungle Resort. The number of days floating can be extended as per your schedule.

ACCESSIBILITYChitwan is within easy access. From Kathmandu or Pokhara you can drive 5 hours or take a rafting trip down Trishuli River concluding in Chitwan .For travelers entering Nepal overland from India via Sunauli.or Birganj or Kakabhitta, its better to stop at Chitwan instead making straight for Kathmandu .Chitwan is also accessible by a half-hour flight from Kathmandu.
WHAT TO BRINGChitwan has a tropical monsoon climate with high humidity through out the year. In coldest winter (December -January), the temperature falls to 2 or 3 degree celsius at night and warm clothing is essential but surprisingly days are warm with temperatures ranging from 15 to 20 degree celsius. It is very hot and humid in May and June and one may feel like throwing clothes off. One should be very cautious with choice of colors of cloths. Green, blue or dark colored cloths (with long sleeves and full-length trousers) are recommended while you are in jungle safari excursions. Sun hats, sunglasses, sunscreen lotion, insect repellents, flashlights, and good walking shoes are other needs. In the rainy season July, August and September, a raincoat is a must. Binoculars and some reference books on Chitwan's flora and fauna will be an advantage.

HOW TO GET THERE?
Gorkha hamlet is located in the sauraha tharu village, can reach taking tourist bus or private car to chitasari from Pokhara or Kathmandu, bus form other part of Nepal to Sauraha chowk and fly to Bharatpur form Kathmandu. You will see our hotel guide and they escort to the resort.
By land: depart form Kathmandu or Pokhara early in the morning for a 5 hour drive via Mugling and the Narayanghat Highway. Reach resort in the time for lunch.
By raft: leave Kathmandu or Pokhara at 7 am and enjoy breakfast in the bank of the Trisuli river before embarking. During the journey you can enjoy high and low water waves and water the surrounding scenery. Baghmara Wildlife Resort is situated at 165 km South of Kathmandu and 15 km South East from Mahendra East-West high way (Tadi Bazzar) at the bank of Budi Rapti river is an isolated northern area of National Park and a border of the famous Baghmara forest(Tiger Hunted forest) of Royal Chitwan National Park. Late King Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev had hunted Royal Bengal Tiger in this forest since then this forest is well known as Baghmara forest. Nepal's first National Park is situated 162 km south of Kathmandu in the lowlands of the inner Terai. It covers an area of 937 sq. km. The park includes hilly areas covered by deciduous Sal forest. One fifth of the park is made up of the floodplains of Narayani, Rapti, And the Reu rivers and is covered by dense tall elephant grass interspersed with riverine forests of silk cotton, acacia and sisam trees. This ecologically diverse area is a heaven of a wild variety of flora & fauna.
This is the last remaining home in Nepal for the Asian One-horned Rhino, rare Royal Bengal Tiger & leopard, varities of deer, sloth bear, Rhesus & Longour monkey, Wild boar, Jackals, civets, mongooses,cats and snakes(Cobra, Viper & Crait). The rivers and lakes are home to Crocodiles (Marsh Muggers & Gharial ) and the Extraordinary Gangetic dolphins.
Chitwan is also a Bird-watcher's delight with more than four hundred migrant and local species birds recorded. Nepal's first and most famous national park is situated in the Chitwan Doon or the lowlands of the inner Terai. Covering an area of 932 sq.km. The park includes hilly areas of the siwalik range covered by deciduous sal forest. A fifth of the park is made up of the floodplains of the Narayani, Rapti and the Rue rivers and is covered by dense tall elephant grass interspersed reverine forests of silk Colton (kapok), acacia and sisam trees. This ecologically diverse area Is the last remaining home in Nepal for more than 300 of the endangered Asian one-horned rhinoceros and harbors one of the largest population of the elusive and rare Royal Bengal tiger. Besides rhino and tiger, Chitwan also supports a great variety of flora and fauna.
There are four species of deer, including the spotted chital, leopard, sloth bear, wild boar, rhesus monkey, grey langur monkey, wild dog, small wild cats, the white stockinet gaur (the world's largest wild cattle) and many other smaller animals. The swampy areas and numerous ox-bow lakes of Chitwan provide a home for marsh crocodiles. In a stretch of the Narayani River is found one of the few remaining of populations of the rare and endangered fish-only eating gharial or Genetic crocodile. Here also is found one of the world's four species of fresh water dolphins.
For the ornithologist and the amateur bird watcher the park offers excellent possibilities with more than 450 species. Some of the resident specialties are peacocks. Several species of woodpeckers, hornbills, Bengal florican, and red headed trogons. Winter birds such as waterfowl, Brahmiuny duck, pintails and bar headed geese, amongst many other cold weather visitors are drawn by the sanctuary of the parks is with alive nesting migrants such as the fabulous paradise flycatcher, the Indian Pitta and parakeets.
