Restaurant in kathmandu

Thamel House Restaurant
Namaste !Whilst walking about the busy streets of Thamel, you will come across a traditional houe, built in a pagoda architectural style appended with marvelously aborned woodcarved windows, doors and long past brick walls. At a glance, you will begin to admire that the building has been taken care of so lovingly and graciously that it is clean and well-,aintained. This is the Thamel House Restaurant - a traditional restaurant with fine cuisine.
It should be interesting to learn that this Thamel House Restaurant building was built over a hundred year ago for an affluent Newar family. The Kathmandu Valley's building and predominant carving skills were very fine then. However this building never intended to have the bewildering art and unintelligible concentration found in some other contemporary construction in the valley. It is, instead, bewitched with tranquil concept of cosiness and a something place to relax in.Inside, the restaurant's tasteful overspread decore blends with the olden atmosphere of the house. The ceilings have been painted over simply. The original rough wood after of the >>Buingal<<>>Leun<< (rice husk + cow dung + cohesive soil) has been whitewahed. Floors are done with brick title paving. Such preservation of old ways of living enjoins your visit to Thamel House Restaurant with not only dining treat but also elucidates an altogether different but distinguished cultural flavours of the restaurant. You will love its dining spaces. You may choose to sit in Asian style on the floor and eat on a foot-high table, or you may choose to take your seat on dinning chairs and tables. The worth seeing item in any old style Nepalese house in their kitchen on roof floor where they cook and dine; and it is called buingal. Therefore, wittingly the >>Buingal<<>>Buingal Bar<<.The service of Thamel House Restaurant is always courteous. Kilroy's of kathmandu
Kilroy’s of Kathmandu opened on the 15th November 1998 amid a blaze of hype and, according to Footprints guide to Nepal “it was entirely justified”.
With seating for 300 guests, Kilroy’s is a great dining experience, whether the occasion is an intimate evening for two or a large party of tourists to celebrate their arrival in the majestic Himalayas.Thomas has carefully put together The Menu taking into consideration all the different cultures that converge on Kathmandu throughout the year. A variety of dishes ranging from light salads and soups, to hearty modern British, Irish and European Dishes are featured, as well as a full range of Indian cuisine that is prepared in the separate Tandoori Kitchen. Here, guests are encouraged to come and try their hand at making Naan bread in the fire-hot clay ovens. Also not to be missed is The Dessert Menu. As Thomas has prepared desserts for some of the most famous people in the world - from Bill Clinton to Sir Edmund Hillary - here is your chance to taste the favourite choices of the great and the good.
Rum doodle, at 40,000 1/2 feet,
Rum doodle, at 40,000 1/2 feet, is the highest mountain in the world. Conquered through the courage and bravery of a handful of eccentric English Mountaineers, with equally eccentric names Ridley, Prone, Constant, Jungle, Shute and Wish. Rum Doodle stands as a heroic monument to to mountaineering, despite the efforts of the expedition's Yogistani cook "Pong". "Positively the best Bar around the most convivial fireplace" "The Ascent of Rum Doodle" by W.E. Bowman provided the inspiration for this Bar and Restaurant. The book is on sale, ask to see a copy. Come, share an evening at the 40,000 1/2 feet bar, at the roof of the world. Here, the tales are as tall as the mountains and the cocktails as bizarre as their names, with one to suit every taste. In our restaurant, sit back to enjoy the finest cusine, served in true Nepalese hospitality. Our fresh vegetables are washed in iodine before cooking and all drinking water is treated to WHO Standards.
As soon as you walk in the front door, you will see the footprints. Large white cutouts with names, love songs and the occasional swear words. Look closer. They were left by travelers, much like you, who have visited the Rum Doodle and left their mark and advice for those that come after them. These footprints have been collected over a period of twenty years and speak volumes, In fact every footprint is a story in itself.
Behind the bar counter are square wooden boxes with glass fronts and many signatures. These boxes are a tribute to those heroes of mountaineering-that select club of Everest summiteers. Started many years ago around the autograph of Sir Ed. Hillary, the numbers have grown to include Uemura, Messner, Tabei, Ang Rita Sherpa, Rob Hall, Gary Ball and many others to form the largest collection of signatures of Everest Summiteers in the world. But, we have played host to other people as well. Former U. S President Jimmy Carter and Rosalyn Carter were here. Former Japanese premier Ryutaro Hashimoto visits frequently. Lood out for their signatures among a host of others. Famous notorious or otherwise.
